The gift of "Family"

posted Apr 10, 2011 4:37 AM by Virginia Holstein

The painting, "Family", is a gift from Loudoun County, VA artist Mary Hope Worley.  The painting is a scene from a western Loudoun County.  In the background is the Blue Ridge Mountain and the barn from Round Oak Farm.  In front of the barn is the world renown Holstein bull, Round Oak Rag Apple Elevation.  All of the Holsteins in the picture can be traced back to "Elevation".  The frame is from the wooden door that hung next to "Elevation's" pen while he was at Round Oak.  The artist is a cousin of Ronald Hope and was raised on a family farm just south of Leesburg.

The painting has been donated to Holstein Foundation for the benefit of youth programs and will auctioned at the beginning of the National Holstein Convention Sale on Friday, June 24.
