2015 President Letter to Membership

January 2015

Greetings Fellow Holstein Breeders,

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to a new membership year of Virginia Holstein. You will see in this membership mailing that we have lots of things going on, especially preparing for our 100th Anniversary that will be celebrated in 2016.

Barbara Wagner and Carol McComb have both included letters about preparations that are underway for the 100th Anniversary. We need everyone’s help to make this a celebration a success. Please reply to Barbara’s letter by March 1st and watch for more information this year about the “Cow of the Century” Contest. Also, we need a collective effort in locating and providing memorabilia and pictures to Carol to showcase in a slide show to take all of us on a trip down memory lane of the past 100 years of Virginia Holstein history.

I am pleased to share that we are working with the Holstein World to bring you a discount on your yearly subscription. Fill out the form, whether a new or renewal, and note that you are a current VA Holstein Member. You can save $5.00 on a year’s subscription and support the VA Holstein Association at the same time.

I would also like to encourage you to take some time to visit the State Association’s website at www.vaholstein.org, as well as the National Association’s website at www.holsteinusa.com. Both sites provide timely updates with the latest happenings. National Award Applications for adult members are due February 28, 2015 and the Junior Award applications have varying dates. You will find a list of these on the back of this letter. We have a great group of members from the state of Virginia with outstanding cows and accomplishments, I want to encourage you to take a look at the opportunities available. If any Junior Member has questions about the awards or contests to enter for the National Convention, please contact one of the Junior Association Advisors.

Finally, in this mailing you will see the Adult Association Membership renewal form. Please take the time to fill this out and send in your membership dues. The dues for being a Virginia State Member will quickly pay off in registry discounts when registering your calves. You also automatically will receive the Southeastern Holstein News as part of your membership. Junior Association Members will also see their membership form included. While many Junior Memberships have not expired, we are asking that you review and notify Becky Daubert of any outdated information like phone numbers or email addresses.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year for the Virginia Holstein Association. Thank you for your interest in being a member of this great organization and its activities.

Sincerely,

Debbie Hardesty, President

Virginia Holstein Association
