VHA Member Spotlight - Kraig Smith

Nolandia Farm, one of 13 dairies in Fauquier county. The farm name came from Kraig’s grandfather, George Noland who milked cows from the 1950s to 2006. As a youth, Kraig had always worked around the farm and was involved in showing through 4-H. In 2013, Kraig graduated from VA Tech with an associate degree in Agriculture Technology.  Since 2014, he, along with his girlfriend Heather Shinn, parents, Kavlyn and Lisa Smith, and grandmother Betty Noland have operated a leased facility. They milk 65 cows and raise 70 Holstein replacements. In addition, they farm 400 acres of corn, soybeans and hay to supply feed for both the dairy and beef enterprises. Nolandia is also home to a 30 head cow/calf herd.   Future plans include moving back and renovating the same farm his grandfather George operated.  Thank you Kraig for your continued involvement in the VA Holstein association.
