2024 VHA Annual Meeting

The Virginia Holstein Association held their Annual Meeting on January 11, 2025 to celebrate the 2024 achievements of the association and its members.  During the annual business meeting committee reports were shared along with a slate of continuing and new directors were presented.  Under new business, Roger Miller shared the update from the redistricting committee and presented a map showing the change from eight districts to three regions for the association.  The new map was presented and approved at the fall board meeting.  See the website for the updated map contains the new districts. HAUSA Representative Carl Kent and Director Scott Yocum were present to share updates from the National Association.

Guest speakers at the annual meeting included Dr. Charles Broaddus with VDACS providing an update on HPAI and the next steps Virginia will take in monitoring the disease.  Dr. Amy Johnson presented “When the Well Runs Dry” where she discussed a three-pronged approach to agricultural wellness on the farm that addresses physical stress, mental health and safety on the farm. 

During the afternoon session the VA Junior Holstein Association provided an update on their year, cow and herd honors were presented and All-Virginia winners were recognized. 

We would like to thank the VA Junior Holstein Association for a delicious lunch and those who were able to attend the meeting during some questionable weather over the weekend.
